Butterfly celebration

This card is for the Cosmo Cricket/Cards Magazine sketch challenge:
I used Cosmo Cricket papers (Pixie-Licious and Joy Ride), Ready-Set-Chip elements (Pixie-Licious) and Tiny Type alphabet. The pearl is by Creative Imaginations and the cardstock by DCWV. The window was cut with a Coluzzle template and the boarder punch is by EK success. Adhesive: Tombow (liquid), Therm-o-web (foam), Love My tapes (runner).  This card was based on the following sketch:

Here is the inside of my card:
And here is a close-up of the flower I made from the circles of the Pixie-Licious - Fairy Rings - paper:
The flower was assembled on a circle I punched out from the same paper, then mounted on foam adhesive. Then I folded the sides of the circle to hide the foam.

It's Time for another Party!

It's time for a new Party Time Tuesday challenge! We have another amazing sketch from Stacy this week and two great sponsors! The design team got to play with cute images from Karen's Doodles and stickers from Circle B Enterprises Scrapbooking & More Store. Here is my card:
Baby Chick image by Karen's Doodles was printed on glossy yellow paper that came with a Klutz Handmade Cards Kit, which I colored with Sakura gel pens and Bic markers. The flower was punched out of Bella Blvd paper - Plastino Collection - with an EK Success 3" scallop circle punch. The cardstock base is Core'dinations; Karen Foster stickers; unknown floss. Piercing was done with WRMK Sew Easy - Zig Zag head. The background paper is leftover from an old pad by Hot Off The Press (I think).  Here is the sketch:

I hope you can join the Parties this week at the blog and on Facebook!

"Boat"day card

This week is card week over at Sketches: Creatively Yours. Ann has a great sketch and here is my card:
I used October Afternoon - Seaside - paper, shape sticker and wild cards from an Apron Strings blue-plate special. I glued the sticker on a piece of cardstock so I could pop it up with foam adhesive. American Craft cardstock, SRM birthday sticker and unknown buttons. Adhesive by GlueArts (High Tac and foam) and Glue Dots (for the buttons). And here is the S:CY card1 sketch:
As you can see I rotated the sketch 90 degrees clockwise and used a smaller image to show off the background cards, which I placed at an angle. I also added the sentiment to the image, so I placed buttons where the sentiment is shown on the sketch.

I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation! I hope you can join us! Also, check out the S:CY Facebook Page!

More lightsabers

Somehow, while browsing through the party supply store, I came up with another light saber party favor. So I had to order more brads for this:
I "dressed up" mini M&Ms containers with a silver cardstock from DCWV. The black punched top follows my tutorial, while the bottom was decorated with a Sticko - wood stripe - rub-on by EK success. (I realized afterwords that stamping would have been more efficient, but I'm not a stamper... yet ;) Jewel and pearl brads from Eyelet Outlet & Brads.

It's a Shower Party

Ready for a new Party Time Tuesday challenge? The theme for this week is Showers - Baby, Wedding, Rain... and we have Glitterbabe's Digis sponsoring us again! I made a Baby Shower card with these cute little booties:
The background paper is by Bella Blvd - Plastino Collection. Core'dinations cardstock; Fancy Pants buttons; Sakura Glaze pens; Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type; EK success punch; unknown ribbon. The digi was printed 3 times on a paper leftover from my Markings by Gibson - Zoophabet 2 - baby scrapbook kit, then cut and layered with Raisins (first layer) and foam (second layer) from the Glue Arts 3D combo pack.

I hope you can join the Party this week!

For the boys

Both my boys have April birthdays, 2 weeks apart, so we are celebrating them with a big joint party next weekend. This year the theme they chose was Star Wars, as they have been watching the movies non-stop for the past few months (all except Episode III, which we think they are still too young to watch). So I spent the day making light saber party favors:
I used SRM Magic Wand tubes (who thought they were too girly for boys?), Bazzill cardstock, EK Success ribbon punch; McGills ribbon punch; Glue Arts Extreme adhesive; Queen&Co. red pearls; and mini pearl brads from Eyelet Outlet & Brads. Tubes were filled with M&Ms. These light sabers were so easy that I figured I post a tutorial.

Start by cutting the cardstock - gray 2" x 2 1/2" and black 2"x 2 1/8"
Punch gray cardstock piece with ribbon  slot punches:
Add extreme adhesive to the back of gray cardstock piece to adhere the black cardstock piece:
Pierce two holes on the front and insert brads:
Add adhesive to the back on both sides. I found that the extreme adhesive squares were better for the closing lip, but the roller worked fine for attaching the cardstock to the tube.
Roll the cardstock hilt to the base of the tube (so it will stand om the hilt):
Attach the adhesive pearl to the opposite side from the brads.

I didn't have red brads and I really liked the rim on the brads, so I used both. However, all brad or all adhesive pearls would work just fine. These were quick and easy to make 20 in a couple of hours (while "helping" Dada do the taxes). And the kids are having so much fun filling them with M&Ms that they didn't want the filling part to be a "party activity" as I had envisioned...

Ali has a beautiful sketch posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours and the design team has added their own personal touches for your inspiration. Here is my interpretation:
Cosmo Cricket - Togetherness - papers; Lily bee - Lovely - rub-ons and packaging; Fancy Pants buttons; American Crafts Heat Wave paper flowers; Jenni Bowlin alphas from the Butterfly Banner Stickers; We R Memory Keepers aqua floss; Sakura pens; ice cream cone pin by My Little Bit of Whimsy; yellow ribbon by Offray; aqua ribbon from Laurl's Etsy shop. Here is the S:CY 02-11 sketch:
As you can see I rotated the sketch 180 degrees and used only one picture. This week there are also some prizes if you use the sketch and spread the word. Also, check out the  S:CY Facebook Page. I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation! I hope you can join us!

Ready for an Elegant Party?

It's time for a new Party Time Tuesday challenge! The theme for this week is Elegant Birthday and we have Stitchy Bear Stamps sponsoring us again! For me Elegant means simple, so here is what I came up with:
American Crafts cardstock, Kaiser rhinestones, SRM sticker sentiment. Ribbon from Laurl's Etsy shop. I got a bit creative coloring the image... I used Sakura gel pens. First I colored the flowers with Gelly Roll red glitter and the leaves with green Glaze, then I layered Aqualip yellow and red Glaze for some contrast in color and shine... I think it worked :)

I hope you can join the Party this week... and don't forget to check out this week's PTT Facebook giveaway - you could win a $5 gift certificate to a store of your choice!

Gelato

Apron Strings Birthday Party Day #23 - LAST ONE: create a layout that uses one of the subway art photos for inspiration. I chose this one (as I thought the pink would add to the challenge):
And here is my take, using the pink, white, red and blue colors:
Crate Paper - Snow Day - craft kit; Bo Bunny - Snowy Serenade - paper; Bazzill cardstock; Pink Paislee title alphas; Adornit mini alphas;Offray ribbon; My Minds Eye journaling tag; Glue Arts adhesive; unknown paper clip; ice cream cone pin by My Little Bit of Whimsy; brads from Eyelet Outlet & Brads.

I'll miss the AS birthday challenges... but Dada is probably relieved that they are done ;)
