Sun Shiny Day

Here is a layout I made with the Jillibean - Watermelon Gazpacho - papers and journaling sprout from the Apron Strings July'11 STBB kit.
American Crafts Rocky Road cardstock was also included in the kit, while the title was cut out from papers in the American Crafts - Heat Wave - packet from the Apron Strings August'10 STBB kit. I added some unknown jewels, Glossy Accents and Diamond Stickles to decorate some of the bathing suits. Adhesive by Tombow (liquid), Sticky Tumb (foam), and Therm-o-web (runner).

Birthday #2

Ali has a great sketch posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours and the design team has added their own personal touches for your inspiration. Here is my interpretation -- and another birthday LO:
For the background I used a My Mind's Eye -- Alphabet Soup -- paper, then added a theme napkin from the party. Bazzil cardstock, Pink Paislee white alphas, October Afternoon mini market alphas, SRM stickers, unknown ribbon (on sale at Apron Strings). The hand stitching was pierced with the WRMK vine piercer; I used DMC floss. And here is Sketch #14-11:
I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation! I hope you can join us at Sketches: Creatively Yours! Also, check out the S:CY Facebook Page!

Hello Friend

Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo this week (color combo #114) is bright and cheery:
 Here is my card:
BasicGray - Lauderdale - paper and Petaloo dragonflies from the June 2011 kit by Sweet Peach Crop Shop kit. American Crafts cardstock, SRM sticker, Martha Stewart ink, Sakura gel pens, unknown button and floss. I didn't have the right color floss, so I inked the one I had to match. The deckle edged square was cut with a Coluzzle template and popped up with RaisIns by GlueArts. The flower is a punched-out window:
And here is the inside:

Boo boo kisses

My oldest is starting kindergarten tomorrow -- time flies! We went to meet his teacher on Friday and I made her a little gift:
I used a plastic ice cream jar covered with October Afternoon Schoolhouse paper then used fabric tape from Love My Tapes. For the topper I punched out flowers and scalloped circles from OA Modern Homemaker, and layered them with foam adhesive. Unknown button and ribbon; apple pin by My Little Bit of Whimsy. I cut tags with a Coluzzle template and added some OA Mini Market alphas and a Making Memories eyelet.

I made a second jar for my youngest to give to his new preschool teacher, so he wouldn't feel left out:
This one also uses OA Schoolhouse papers and alphas. The punch-outs are from scraps of cardstock, the baker's twine is from DKMdiva, and the frog had been on the playroom floor for a while now.

Both of these jars are filled with fun BandAids, which I'm sure will come in handy this school year :)

Nerdy card

Ann has a great card sketch this week over at Sketches: Creatively Yours.
Here is a card I made for a co-worker using papers from the Jillibean Atomic Soup collection:
WRMK eyelets and floss, SRM sticker sentiment (on the ribbon), Maya Road pin, Glossy Accents, unknown ribbon. Here is the sketch:
As you can see, I decided the card was busy enough with only just one paper behind the image.
By the way, I got some plain cards & envelopes at JoAnn's just to speed things up and I like them quite a bit :)

Giggles in the grass

This layout is not my standard LO... there is a lot of "white space". I guess this is where others would mist the background, but I haven't jumped onto that bandwagon yet...
Kraft cardstock and Imaginisce - Animal Crackers - papers from the Apron Strings March'11 STBB kit. Glitter alphas by Sassafras; Tiny Type by Cosmo Cricket; Pentel gel pen. Adhesive By Therm-o-web and EK success.

I love these photos, even though the lighting was awful. I didn't edit them and I think the coloring emphasize the indoors feeling.

Another color challenge

The Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo this week had me scratching my head. Apparently I don't own any light pink papers -- at all! Here is color combo #113:
And here is my card:
Doodlebug Designs papers, DCWV cardstock, SRM sticker sentiment, Pebbles button, The Robyn's Nest butterfly stickers, WRMK floss, white Zig chisel pen (for inking edges), unknown ribbon. The flower and butterflies were mounted on foam adhesive (GlueArts); other adhesive by Therm-o-web except for ribbon adhesive by GlueArts.

I have to say I thought the "wisteria wonder" was darker last night, either I was tired or my laptop was playing tricks on me... or both!

Super birthday

Last year my oldest turned 4 and we had a joint party for both boys at the "favorite park". This is probably the most extensive journaling I have ever done on a layout:
I used Basic Grey - Life of the Party and Doodlebug Tangerine Stripe Card from the Apron Strings May'11 STBB kit. American Crafts cardstock; SRM stickers; WRMK variegated floss and Sew Easy piercer (Zig Zag). The rest are ephemera from the party, including the most expensive party napkins on the planet -- but they had The Flash, which is what mattered most.

And I hid my cupcake making in the pocket:

Home bound

This is the final layout for our Italy album. Now I can move on to birthday LOs :)
I used Echo Park - Little Boy - papers, Maya Road envelope (filled with boarding passes), SRM sticker, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, and unknown ribbon. The Thickers were pink and I colored them with a marker and added a couple of different Ranger Stickles to get the color I wanted (or close enough).

Don't forget to check out the new sketch posted at Sketches: Creatively Yours! And stop by the S:CY Facebook Page to say *hi*!

Color combo challenge

So I decided to tackle a different kind of challenge this week: color combo #112 over at Scrapmaster's Paradise.
Here is my card, with as close a match of colors as I could find in my stash:
The background paper is Bella Blvd - Sunny Happy Skies - from the Apron Strings March'11 STBB kit. I cut out a flower from some old patterned paper in my stash, then covered it with Mod Podge (Gloss & Sparkle) and added a brad I got last year in an AS kit. Jillibean Sugar Pick, Maya Road ribbon, SRM sticker sentiment, card base by The Paper Company, Sakura gel pen, and adhesive by American Crafts and Sticky Thumb.

Cable car ride

I'm the featured designer at Sketches: Creatively Yours this week, so check it out if you have a chance. Also, Ali has a great sketch posted today and the design team did a great job showcasing its versatility!

On a different note I've been wrapping up my Italy 2010 album and here is the last double LO in the book. Now I just need to come up with something for the last page...
Bella Blvd - Sunny Happy Skies - papers from the Apron Strings March'11 STBB kit. I hand cut some of the clouds, popped them up with foam adhesive (3L) and "painted" them with Mod Podge Sparkle. I added some Glossy Accents to the balloons. The Pink Paislee glitter alphas I won from Apron Strings last year. The ribbon and cardstock are also from the kit. I pierced all the way around the LO with the WRMK Sew Easy (Zig Zag) then hand stitched with WRMK floss (orange), adding the ribbon with the stitches. Another great example of not thinking before piercing -- it took hours to stitch that border :)

Playground in Riva

Once we got to the conference site the kids were ready to be kids. They spent most of their days at the playground, which was a couple of blocks from the apartment we rented.
Echo Park - Playground - Collection; Core'dinations cardstock for the photo mats; DMC floss and ephemera from the trip. I pierced the journaling spot with the WRMK Sew Easy, but the left side pattern was done freehand to match the one on the title sticker. Adhesive by GlueArts, Therm-o-wed (Zots) and Sticky Thumb (foam).
