Trip to Rio

On to May... 2009. Our main event was the 2 weeks we spent visiting my relatives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The soccer photos from the previous post were taken there, but these are the "official" first layouts:
I was impressed with the Tampa airport, their international gate has a toddler play area that was a lifesaver before the long flight. The kids had so much fun running about that they fell asleep as soon as dinner was done...

For the first LO I used American Crafts Tree House paper from the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox June '10 kit, Coredinations cardstock, Sassafras Chipboard Letters from the Mosh Posh February '10 kit, and Sassafras lass sweet marmalade journaling tag. I had to sand the tag because I could not get any of my pens to write on it... I got the flowers at Serendipity Scrapbook's closeout sale and the alphabet brads from Eyelet Outlet & Brads.

The double sided paper for the second LO came from the Mosh Posh April '10 kit. This is another "one sheet" layout. Dimensional embellishments by Jolie and Coredination cardstock (distressed to show the core color).

6.24 Sketch challenge

Apron Strings is sponsoring this weeks Sketchy Thursdays challenge. They have an amazing sketch this week:
I gave it a try and used papers from the American Crafts Tree House packet of the Apron Strings Smaller than a Breadbox June '10 kit to make a World Cup-inspired layout:
I cut the ovals with my Coluzzle templates and added snippets of the manufacturer's borders from the papers as embellishments. The BasicGray june bug alphas and the buttons I got at Serendipity Scrapbook's closeout sale.

My first mini album!

Sometimes I get some girly papers and stuff with my monthly kits, but as I don't have any girls (or started scraping MY baby pictures yet) they get set aside for cards or just forgotten. A bit of a waste of beautiful things... So I decided to make a mini album for my niece and let all my girlyness out. I started out by buying a Jenni Bowlin Circle Book from Apron Strings. But this is what I ended up with:
Sassafras Lass paper - Cherry Delicious - and Buttercream Lace from the Apron Strings April'10 small kit; Dear Lizzy papers and Feather Dimensional Stickers and American Craft Regards Thickers (painted with sparkle Mod Podge) from the Mosh Posh March'10 kit. October Afternoon Thrift Shop Cardstock Stickers and Mini Market Alpha Stickers, and Dear Lizzy Ribbon from the MP June'10 kit. Jenni Bowlin journaling tags from the MP May'10 kit. Plus some other random stuff I had laying around including Ranger Stickles in faded jeans on top of a transparency frame.

End of April

The last couple of weeks have been crazy, because I went to a conference in Maine - last time I went to one of those my oldest son was a year old... so it's been a while. As the stress built up the scrapbooking increased, but the time to blog was spent on preparing my poster... I managed to scrap the last bit of April 2009 before I left - a day at the Jacksonville Zoo. So here is what I was up to when sleep escaped me:
I usually stay away from girlie layouts, but I had to figure out what to do with those Jenni Bowlin butterflies and journaling tags that came in the Mosh Posh May'10 kit. I also used some Lily Bee Design Hello Sunshine chipboard flowers and die-cut frame from that kit along with the October Afternoon Mini Market Alpha Stickers and Jenni Bowlin Red Crepe Paper Ribbon from the Mosh Posh February'10 kit. The yellow line in the Lily Bee die-cut frame didn't match so I covered it with a black jellyroll pen. The june bug alphas I got at Serendipity Scrapbook's closeout sale.

For the next LO I used some paper that I had leftover from the Mosh Posh April'09 kit.
I cut the scalloped circles and made the flower using this guide, but I did not fold them in half. Zoo brads from Eyelet Outlet & Brads. Journaling tag from K&Co. - Baby Boy - which I trimmed to match the LO.

For this last LO I used Karen Foster Whirlpool paper that I got at scrapbook.com a while back.
Sun quicklets from Eyelet Outlet & Brads. The American Crafts Thickers are from the Mosh Posh May'10 kit and I also got the felt embellishments from them.
