SWS #5: Rock & Roll

There is a new Stamping with Sami Challenge posted today on the SP Stamps blog. This week we want to see if you can Rock & Roll. If you haven't tried this before, check out Sami's tutorial here. The rules for the SWS challenges are posted here.

For my card I used the Round Sentiments I stamp set:
First I inked the stamp with SU! Crumb cake, then I used the rock & roll technique to ink the edges in SU! Cherry Cobbler. I punched out the sentiment with a EK Success scallop punch, inked the edge with Cherry Cobbler then rubbed some Ranger Distress ink (Antique linen) over it while it was still wet. I loved the multicolored effect -- I need to try this more often.

Other: Jillibean Soup papers and card base; Maya Road leaf pin; October Afternoon button; unknown raffia trim.

I hope you get a chance to check out the SP Stamps blog and play with this week's SWS Challenge!

Ali has a great sketch posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours and the design team has added their own personal touches for your inspiration. Here is my interpretation:
I used Bella Blvd - One Fall Day - papers and stickers; Core'dinations and American Crafts cardstock; Jillibean Soup journaling sprout; Paper Trunk alphabet stickers; Bic marker. Buttons by My Little Bit of Whimsy. And here is sketch 3-12:
I added an extra photo, so I shifted things a bit... but in general the LO is the same.

I hope you can join us at Sketches: Creatively Yours! Also, check out the S:CY DT Call! I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation!

SWS #4: Coloring

There is a new Stamping with Sami Challenge posted today on the SP Stamps blog. This week we are asking for Coloring. The rules for the SWS challenges are posted here.

I realized a little late that none of my SP stamps have images I could color... I guess I need to order some more ;)

So instead of making a card, I made a mini-book based on the October Afternoon paper from the Farm Fresh collection that has the story of Rusty the Rooster:
Here are the inside pages:

I embellished the book with the following SP stamps: Large Polka Dots Background stamp, Musical Background stamp, Mix 'n Match Sentiments: Family Stamp Set and Round Sentiments I stamp set.

I used an October Afternoon Flashcard book as my base and the papers are from Farm Fresh and Hometown collections. I colored the images with a Stampin' Up! blender pen using SU! Classic ink (Regal collection, Crumb cake), Colorbox pigment ink and Martha Stewart chalk ink; same inks were used for stamping. Other: Ranger Distress ink; stickers from Doodlebug Designs; Cropidile & eyelets from WRMK; EK Success scallop circle punch, Love My Tapes adhesive fabric tape.

I hope you get a chance to check out the SP Stamps blog and play with this week's SWS Challenge!

The papers are and Echo Park - Little Boy. Other: EK Success punchs; unknown ribbon and cardstock.

Farmyard Buddies and DT Call

Ann has a great sketch posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours and the design team has added their own personal touches for your inspiration. Here is my interpretation, my first SCY layout for 2012:
I used October Afternoon - Farm Fresh - papers, Doodlebug designs stickers, American Crafts cardstock and Thickers. And here is sketch 2-12:
Other than making it a 2-pager, I kept pretty close to the sketch. I varied the size of the photos to add some interest, as I kept the embellishments to a minimum.

Sketches: Creatively Yours is also having a Design Team Call. The closing Date is January 30, 2012, and all scrappers, all over the world, are welcome to apply!

Learning his lines

I used Jillibean Soup papers, twine and tag from The Card Kitchen December kit. The alphas are from their January kit. Other: Doodlebug mini jewels, Sakura gel pen, unknown cardstock. I cut the drop shape with my Cricut Expression 2 (Essentials cartridge) and I adhered the floss in my title with Tombow mono multi glue. Next time I think I need a different glue, because this one stays a bit tacky after it dries...

I based the LO on the sketch below by Julie Bonner posted on the Bean Talk blog, which I rotated clockwise:

SWS #2: Masking

There is a new Stamping with Sami Challenge posted today on the SP Stamps blog. Another easy one: masking. In case you are not familiar with the technique, check out Sami's tutorial here and the rules for the challenge are posted here.

For my card I used the Ultimate Sentiments II Stamp Set that came out in November and the Hearty Hearts Backgrounds.
For my mask I applied Tombow mono adhesive to the coordinating sentiment die-cut (available at the SP&Co. store as a SVG file or a pre-cut set). I let the adhesive dry so it would be re-positionable then placed the die-cut on my card base and stamped over it with the background stamp.

Other: Stampin'Up ink (Riding Hood red and Cherry Cobler); WRMK Sew Easy stitch piercer (Zig Zag) and floss; Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type; unknown ribbon and card base. I cut out the window with a Coluzzle template. Here is what it looks like inside:

Little Russian Boy

My brother-in-law's family lives in Russia and when they visit they bring gifts that are typical of over there, like this shirt they gave my youngest. he wanted to wear it right away (unlike his brother), so I got quite a few pictures of him.
The papers are by The Girls' Paperie (On Holiday) and the chipboard is Pebbles (Tree House). Other: Unknown cardstock, WRMK floss, Colorbox ink, Paper Trunk alpha stickers, and Bic marker.

Happy New Year!

The new year is starting at full speed and so is the new SP Stamps blog. There will be daily inspiration and weekly challenges -- So much fun! Challenges will go up every Sunday, so check them out!

The first Stamping with Sami Challenge was posted today: simple stamping. Here is my card, using the
Ultimate Sentiments II Stamp Set that came out in November:
I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock then cut out the words, but SP & Co. also sells the cut files to make your life easier. For my card I used papers and trim from The Card Kitchen November kit. I made the center flower by applying double-sided sticky tape in a spiral pattern, then using it to attach the ribbon.

I hope you get a chance to check out the new SP Stamps blog and play with this week's Stamping with Sami Challenge!
