It's Party Time Tuesday challenge time! And as it's the last Tuesday of the month, the theme for this week is Anything Goes! We've had Kenny K as our sponsor this month and this week I got to play with the Movie Star digi stamp:
The papers are Sassafras Lass - Ellie's Tale - from the Apron Strings May'11 STBB kit. American Crafts Cherry Brads from the Apron Strings August'10 STBB kit. Cardstock: DCWV; stickers: SRM Press, K&Co.; markers: Sakura, Zig; adhesive: GlueArts. I added Glossy Accents to the "B" on the patterned paper and made the flower with an EK success circle punch.
I hope you can join the Party this week!

Playground in Venice
When I saw Ali's great sketch, which was posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours, I new exactly which pictures would be perfect for it. So here it is, my last Venice layout. However, I had to order the new Echo Park - Playground - craft kit to scrap them because somehow I could not find papers in my stash that matched these photos ;)
I've been in love with this collection for months, but I kept talking myself out of buying it because of all the beautiful papers I already have... I'm so glad I bought because I'm truly in love with it - and I have so many playground pictures to scrap that I doubt this collection will be sitting around in my stash very long! From my stash: Bazzill cardstock, Sassafras Chipboard Letters, Making Memories brads, WRMK floss, Bic marker, unknown buttons and jewels. I added some Glossy Accents to the tire on the tree to give it a bit more texture. The border strip on top was popped up on foam adhesive (3L), other adhesive: GlueArts, GlueDots. And here is Ali's sketch 07-11:
As you can see, I rotated the sketch clockwise, added the title where the journaling was marked, and moved the journaling to the tree sticker.
I hope you can join us at Sketches: Creatively Yours! I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation!

New Home card
Some friends of ours are finally making their first house purchase! We are very happy for them and I used the fun card sketch over at Sketches: Creatively Yours by Ann to make them a card:
I used We R Memory Keepers’ Family Keepsakes papers from the Apron Strings March'11 STBB kit. I used GlueArts foam to pop up the tag that came with the kit. Cardstock and green ribbon also from the kit, but the white ribbon and SRM sticker are from my stash. Here is the sketch:
I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation! I hope you can join us! Also, check out the S:CY Facebook Page!

Many views of Venice
Ali has a beautiful sketch posted today at Sketches: Creatively Yours and the design team has added their own personal touches for your inspiration. I expanded the sketch for a double-page layout:
I used some Bazzill dotted Swiss cardstock as my base, then added the Karen Foster - Sea to Sea - paper, Thickers, K&Co. flower embellishments and hand stitching. Piercing was done with WRMK Sew Easy - Blanket head. I have to say that it took me more than an hour (over 2 days!) to stitch this LO, even though it took 2 minutes to pierce it... next time I'll need to think twice before rolling that piercer over a layout! LOL!
Here is sketch 06-11:
As you can see I used the flower embellishments to make the scallops. As I wanted to get more photos in, I made it a 2-pager and added a photo boarder instead of the paper boarder on the top and bottom.
I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation! I hope you can join us at Sketches: Creatively Yours!

On the light side of reading
I haven't had a mind lately to ready very "serious" books, so I've been enjoying some that are on the more relaxing side. Some times I just can't take depressing books...
I finally got around to reading The Lost Symbol last month, which had been sitting on my shelf for a while. It's OK, but I'm glad I didn't give it high priority and waited to buy it used. I liked Deception Point, Digital Fortress, The Da Vinci Code, and Angels & Demons a lot better.
I also read Prince of Darkness by Sharon Kay Penman - from the Queen's Man series. I love Penman's books - both her fiction and historicals. I can't wait for Lionheart to come out!
And to really relax for a few very stressful weeks last month, I finished the The Princess Diaries series. I was missing books 7-10 and I finally broke down and bought them. Sometimes I just need really light reading... and that's when I usually go back to Anne of Green Gables and Jane Austen. But there is just so many times I can read the same book without feeling like I'm wasting time, so end up hooked on these series that just make Dada roll his eyes.
Next up is Hunger Games Trilogy. I'm not sure that one is considered "light". Another series to keep me up at night...

The background paper is by BasicGray and the bricks were cut from a DCWV adhesive mat stack. Alphas by Sassafras Lass; grass is Jolee and fire hydrant is Sticko (both by EK Success). Image was colored with Sakura gel pens.
It is a gate-fold card, and when opened this is what you see:
Rub-on by Provo-Craft.
I hope you can join the Party this week!

Celebrate Mom!
It's Party Time Tuesday challenge time! And the theme for this week is Mother's Day! We have Kenny K as our sponsor for the entire month of May! This week I got to play with the Super Mom image - who got a makeover for the occasion:
Background paper by BasicGray (jargon), but you can't see the writing on this photo. October Afternoon - Modern Homemaker - papers, SRM sticker sentiment, Jolee by You embellishments, Jenni Bowlin Studio crepe ribbon, Sakura gel pens, Bic markers, adhesive by Tombow and GlueArts.
If I ever break down and buy some Copics it will be because I need a skin tone other than what I can get with different background papers... any color suggestions?
I hope you can join the Party this week... and don't forget to check out this week's PTT Facebook giveaway - you could win a $5 gift certificate to a store of your choice!
