Out on the boat

We still have a lot of fun sailing, but those first few months after we got the boat were extra special.

Carousel and puzzles

Two more pages for the 2012 album.
Reminisce The Wild paper; October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper, die cut tag, alphabet and stickers; Echo Park alphabet; Simple Stories adhesive brands; Lilybee rub-ons (on unknown tag); Stampin' Up marker; Doodlebug jewels; WRMK floss.

The next layout I put together for Shimelle's lots of layers challenge, which I thought would be a good exercise since I almost never think of layers until I'm looking through the finished album.
Fancy Pants Making Waves papers and embellishments from a Scrapbook Steals kit. Other: American Crafts Thickers, Echo Park enamel dots, October Afternoon stickers, Colorbok epoxy word, Tim Holtz tiny attacher, unknown white mesh ribbon. This page was based on Scrapbook Steal's Mid Week Mojo Marigold #6 sketch, which I flipped a bit because of the photos I wanted to use.

Christmas 2011

And these are the last two pages for 2011:

Crate Paper Snow Day paper and stickers; WRMK Sew Easy stitch piercer and black twine; Jenni Bowlin buttons; Queen&Co. pearls; Fancy Pants brads; unknown card stock and Christmas twine. The stitch piercer makes it so easy to pierce the paper that I keep forgetting how long it takes to actually back stitch the whole thing. Maybe I need a sewing machine...

October Afternoon Good Cheer papers and whimsies; Queen&Co. pearls; Eyelet Outlet candy canes and title letters; Tim Holtz/Ranger Glossy Accents and card stock; WRMK twine. This layout was inspired by Scrapbook Steals' Mid Week Mojo sketch Marigold #4:

Child #2

Apparently, I took a lot of pictures of the little one in 2011.

2016 Reading, part 1

I thought I posted the books I read this winter, but my last book post if from the end of October. So here are my favorites from the first quarter (in semi-chronological reading order).

The Chantress Trilogy by Amy Butler Greenfield. Loved Chantress and Chantress Alchemy, but the Chantress Fury was a bit too fantastical (in the lets add everything but the kitchen sink kind of way) for me. Mary Jane Wells's narration kept me from giving up on the book, so I highly recommend the audiobook.

Followed by Frost by Charlie N. Holmberg. Loved the characters and the plot. I couldn't stop myself from reading the book even though I really liked Angela Dawe's narration.

Belle Epoque by Elizabeth Ross. I bought this one for my mother-in-law, but I really enjoyed the story.

Second Star To The Right by Mary Alice Monroe. This was a cute Peter Pan-inspired tale told from the adults' perspective.

Valour and Vanity by Mary Robinette Kowal. I love her Glamourist Histories series and this heist one did not disappoint.

Letters to Zell by Camille Griep. This epistolary fairy tale retelling has the depth of character missing in the originals. Outstanding narration by Amy McFadden.

The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen. I loved all three books (False Prince, Runaway King, and Shadow Throne). This should be a textbook example of unreliable narration. Charlie McWade's narration is excellent. I need to read this series with my kids.

I'll post the spring books in a later post.

Thanksgiving 2011

The wreath I made that fall lasted five years. I need to make a new one this year to replace it.
Simple Stories Harvest Lane paper; Jillibean Soup alphabet and journalling stickers; October Afternoon alphabet stickers; American Crafts cardstocks; Ranger texture paste (colored with Tea Dye Distress ink); Crafters' Workshop stencil; unknown flowers, twine, and brads.

And here is a close-up of the title, which I cut from brown and orange (shadow) Jillibean Soup Stapples II papers with Stampin' Up! alphabet dies.
